With over 24 years of dedicated service, Dr. Kamara has transformed countless lives, championing equality and inclusion across the globe.
As the President and Founder of DIF-SIL (Disabled International Foundation UK/Sierra Leone) and the Dr. Imambay Kamara Global Humanitarian Foundation, her mission centers on empowering disabled individuals, eradicating domestic violence, combating female genital mutilation (FGM), and advancing education and healthcare for the most vulnerable.
A survivor of the Sierra Leone civil war, FGM, and domestic abuse, Dr. Kamara channels her personal experiences into her work. Her achievements have earned her global recognition, including the U.S. Presidential Lifetime Achievement Award and the Global Humanitarian Award at the Cannes Film Festival.
Under her leadership, DIF-SIL has made significant strides, such as advocating for Sierra Leone’s Disability Act, implementing free healthcare initiatives for mothers, and constructing schools and orphanages to provide education and care for disadvantaged children. Dr. Kamara’s advocacy extends to international platforms, where she has addressed global audiences, including the UK Parliament and forums in Geneva, Switzerland.
Beyond her humanitarian work, Dr. Kamara is a successful entrepreneur and author who believes in fostering dignity and self-reliance. Her projects include empowerment centers, agricultural initiatives, and wellness facilities for women facing challenges. These endeavors create opportunities for growth and restoration of hope.
At DIF-SIL, we embody Dr. Kamara’s unwavering commitment to making a meaningful difference. Together, we work to dismantle barriers, eliminate stigma, and uplift those who need it most.
